XP1 / PANGAEA

Pangaea: from the Greek pangaia, meaning "all the Earth". Ancient massive supercontinent that existed during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras, about 300 million years ago. Pangaea was surrounded by a single ocean called Panthalassa.

Like an encyclopaedia questioning the organization and mechanisms of knowledge, XP1 / PANGAEA > mixes different sorts of pictures, related to botany, geography, archaeology… and explores the dissolution of geographical boundaries suggested by the ancient massive supercontinent. It deals with the origin of humanity, the position of man in relation to nature, and the relationship between discovery, seeing and conquest. In a world where apparently, everything has already been explored, this study offers as many picture fragments allowing the viewer to investigate the unknown and the imagination.
